UNITED WAY DAY OF CARING LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD VOLUNTEERS
On Friday, September 5th, United Way of Moore County’s partner agencies will benefit from a “Day of Caring.” This event teams community volunteers and United Way board members with United Way agencies to work onsite and assist them with special projects.
United Way Executive Director, Linda Pearson says, “This has become a popular event for the United Way and is of great benefit to the agencies participating. This year we hope that once again we can take on and complete some projects that the agencies need volunteer help with. Just call the United Way office and we will get you signed up.”
“This is our 4th year of the Day of Caring event and it continues to grow, comments 2008 campaign chair, Gerald Galloway. “It is another example of people working together to make Moore County a better place for all who live in the community. We encourage people to join our Day of Caring effort as we assist our partner agencies in meeting the needs of the people they serve,” Galloway concludes.
“A great way to show our United Way friends what we do here in a typical day,” is how Sandhills Coalition Executive Director, Caroline Eddy describes the Day of Caring. “We love it.”
On September 5th the 2008 Day of Caring event will begin with breakfast for the volunteers at 8:30 A.M. at the Jefferson Inn in downtown Southern Pines. Following breakfast, teams will disperse throughout the county to complete various projects at agency locations. Volunteers will gather back at The Jefferson Inn at 12:30 P.M. for lunch and a celebration of the morning’s events.
“The whole idea of our Day of Caring, every activity, the opportunities to gather for a wonderful cause, and the fact that it truly is so much fun are the very reasons not to miss out on a Day of Caring,” concludes Pearson.
