UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN SEASON KICKS OFF SEPTEMBER 7TH WITH DAY OF CARING

On Friday, September 7th, United Way of Moore County’s partner agencies will benefit from a “Day of Caring.” Teams of volunteers and United Way board members will go out to agencies and assist them with special projects.
United Way Executive Director, Linda Pearson says, “We’re looking for a few good volunteers interested in helping others. The Day of Caring event is an opportunity to get to know the local non-profits in Moore County and to see what is available to people living in our community. We have a great time and some wonderful volunteer relationships are forged as a result.”
2007 Campaign Chair, Lee Riggsbee said, “This is our 3rd year of the Day of Caring event and it has grown each year. It is an “open door” opportunity for individuals and businesses in Moore County to actually work with the agencies that their financial contributions support. The Day of Caring provides a first-hand look at the agencies and their benefit to our community. If anyone wonders what their contribution to United Way of Moore County does, this is the best testimonial available to them. It promotes a wonderful spirit of community care,” he concluded.
The Day of Caring event will begin with breakfast at 8:30 A.M. at the Jefferson Inn in downtown Southern Pines. Following breakfast, teams will disperse throughout the county to complete various jobs at agency locations. Volunteers will gather back at The Jefferson Inn at 12:30 P.M. for lunch and a celebration of the morning’s events.
Partner agencies have already been contacted about participating in this year’s event in hopes that they will take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity. Volunteers interested in participating in the “Day of Caring” should contact the United Way at 692-2413. If you are interested in helping to sponsor the event, contact Linda Pearson at the United Way. |
